Highway 330 - The lower section of the front route from the 210 to the 18 in Running Springs. Highway 18 - Rim of the World, Waterman Canyon - Running Springs - Big Bear, front way - High Desert ( back way from Pear Blossom/Victorville)

The front route from San Bernardino (330) through Running Springs, (18) is the shortest route but sometimes congested. Longer Highway 38, (my favorite), and the longest, easier, back route, Highway 18 through Victorville are sometimes easier. Highway 18 up Waterman and across Rim of the World Highway is a nice, but slightly longer drive than the front route. You are supposed to have chains in your car until spring. Check the above links or the Caltrans number for the latest. When the front routes are closed or slow due to snow or other problems, here are alternate routes using 38 from Redlands (Our Favorite - 20 minutes longer than front route) or Victorville (45 minutes longer, below): To Print Google maps, use these links below, replacing the starting address with your own.
